Here we go again with the government and another bend over and take it regulation. These are major issue questions for the next YouTube presidential debate. If elected will you have any member of congress
that voted for this bill castrated with a butter knife. If elected will you fire everyone in the FCC for making a bad situation worse. Are you aware that depending on how a family adapts this bill will cost a family of five from
$1000 to $8000 to adapt there TVs that year. Not to mention the additional monthly cost form the cable Company indefinitely.

Converter boxes will not help those owning small, truely portable, battery powerd off-air LCD TV sets that are specifically used used while participating in camping and other traveling and outdoor activities. Many thousands of households own these relatively new, analog sets that will instantly become obsolete and, from a practical perspective, become totally useless. This seems to be grossly unfair!!!!

>What year were analog TV’s not made anymore,

Some were still being sold in 2007

>or how do I know if any of my TV’s are analog? Is there a general listing of names and models

There is no list. The easiest way to tell is to look at the TV's specs and see if it has an "ATSC" tuner. If it doesn't have one, then it doesn't have a digital tuner. If you don't have the owner's manual, try googling the make and model numbers of the TVs to find out their specs.

Or you can post the makes & model # in Yahoo Answers TV forum and ask if they have digital tuners.

Another good reason to shop at Circuit City. I have found Best Buy to be hard to deal with and not always completely honest.

The only people this is going to affect is the poor and elderly who cannot afford to buy new televisions. The people who are on fixed incomes and cannot afford cable, or the cable company want't extend their service if you live outside of the city , and those who cannot afford the exorbitant fees for Dish and Direct TV.
Those persons on fixed incomes use most of their money for medicine and rent.

I have been searching around, I haven't found any DTV boxes yet, at least not ones that are supposed to be Coupon Eligible.

I have read that LG has a box, it will be under the Zenith Brand:

RCA and Thompson have got an super-ugly looking box coming out: the DTA800
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/digital-switchover/rca-dta800-digital-converter-for-analog-tvs-updated-delayed-322419.php

I personally like this box - the MPI-500 from Microprose. I was surprised to see Microprose, they've been doing software since back in the 1980's, but I remember a big arcade game they used to have, so looks like they are back in the game (no phun intended) with a very slick looking box:

Now supposedly Samsung and I think Sanyo are going to get into the DTV arena too, but I haven't seen any announcements or photo's of their boxes, these are the only ones I've found so far.

We will just call the young man at that TV station to help us get these TV antennas on our roofs and install the boxes. WHAT volunteers is he talking about? Most volunteers are elderly!!! We all want his number since it is HIS idea! I sure can't afford to pay someone.

Best Buy may find itself being called "Worst Buy" if it doesn't get with the program. People who need converter boxes are NOT going to want to wait several months to watch TV!
