20 more stations get DTV channel numbers

August 29th, 2006

The FCC today announced that 20 more local stations have received tentative digital TV channel numbers.

Following the transition to digital TV in 2009, many stations will reside on new channels. With the third and final round of the commission’s DTV channel election process now completed, 1,809 full-power TV stations have received tentative channel designations. Four stations, including New York’s WABC-TV, have yet to receive a channel slot. “These situations will be resolved in a subsequent proceeding,” according to an FCC notice.
