Merger risk cited in DirecTV downgrade
June 1st, 2006The possibility that DirecTV and Dish Network will join forces is taken seriously by an Oppenheimer analyst, who downgraded DirecTV Group shares to “Neutral” from “Buy,” citing risks related to a potential merger with EchoStar.
In such a scenario, DirecTV may not be the only suitor, according to analyst Thomas W. Eagan.
Who might the others be? Perhaps AT&T or a major cable TV player, in the eyes of some industry analysts.
