Public TV’s first national multicast channel launches in January

November 10th, 2005

A new public TV channel aimed at do-it-yourselfers will launch in January. The digital channel, called Create, will be available over the air in many markets and through major cable systems.

Create will be the first national multicast public TV channel. Multicasting allows up to six separate programming streams to be broadcast by a digital TV station. Three other public TV multicast channels are still in the works for 2006.
